This includes using the BuildClean air scrubbing system, wearing safety glasses when working, laying tarps down, hanging dust barriers around work areas, refraining from smoking and stacking materials and tools neatly. Being considerate and respectful of your family’s needs and your home is important to our team.

What do you love about working at the company?
I enjoy the wide variety of carpentry that we get to work on—from quick remodels to expansive additions; the range of projects and skills keeps me on my toes. I also appreciate our reputation for outstanding customer service and strive to excel in every job.
What do you enjoy about serving clients?
I like working with clients that provide good feedback and information. I take great pride in realizing their dreams as we work on and complete projects!
What “little things” do you consider yourself a highly skilled expert in?
I’m an expert at (and enjoy the most) framing and finishing trim.
What other things bring you joy?
Woodworking and building, classic country music, and anything to do with the great outdoors!
What things cause you stress?
Inconsiderate people, bad drivers, and extremely hot weather.
What do you love to do outside of work? What is an interesting fact about you?
I love the United States and am a proud US Army veteran. I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, Saturday night grilling with my wife, and spending quality time with my family.
Mark Wolfe
What do you love about working at the company?
I love the variety of jobs in which we are involved. One day it’s a deck; the next week, it’s raising a house; the next, it’s installing new windows and trim or remodeling a bathroom.
What do you enjoy about serving clients?
I enjoy working with our clients on their projects and the joy they express during the project, especially at the completion of it. In addition, I like adding value to the project or home by fixing or repairing something that was not a part of the project’s scope. That brings me joy.
What “little things” do you consider yourself a highly skilled expert in?
I consider myself skilled at organizing projects, getting projects done in a timely and efficient manner, and occasionally pulling off the “impossible”.
What other things bring you joy?
My great loves in life are my faith and my family. I enjoy playing with my two granddaughters (winding them up and sending them home). I like driving to the beach with my wife of 43 years, watching the waves, the boats, and the sunsets. In business, I like meeting new people and working with my hands to create something new or restore something old.
What things cause you stress?
I dislike being late, whether being late to a meeting or missing a targeted completion date for a job.
Josh Nelson
What do you love about working at the company?
Our people! I love building and investing in our team. It takes great people who are excited about what they do to be able to serve our clients well.
What do you enjoy about serving clients?
I enjoy finding out the reasoning behind their project. Every project has a story, whether it’s that special playroom for when the grandkids come to visit, a screen porch to create a quiet spot to get away from it all, or to breathe new life into an old family cottage so the next generation can build similar memories, every project is unique.
What “little things” do you consider yourself a highly skilled expert in?
- Communication – keeping the clients and team informed.
- Details – getting them right (details make or break a project).
- Big Picture – keeping the customer’s dreams and goals in mind.
- Organization – keeping job sites clean and organized. This is true for the office, too!
What other things bring you joy?
Spending time with my family at the dinner table, swimming, dirt-biking in the woods with my son, and hiking at Saugatuck Dunes with my wife.
What things cause you stress?
I want things to be orderly—a place for everything and everything in its place.
What do you love to do outside of work? What is an interesting fact about you?
I enjoy building furniture for my family. My goal is to create one unique piece for each of my children. I have two down and 4 to go!

Nelson Builders adheres to a strict Code of Conduct that requires our employees to look sharp and be sharp.
Our Holland, MI-based team members do not wear clothing items with obscenities printed on them, with large holes, or with advertisements for competitor companies. Shirts must be worn at all times while working on job sites. Our work practices and dress must comply with OSHA regulations. Employees and trade partners are respectful of our clients and do not smoke or use tobacco on customers’ properties. No drugs, alcohol, cursing, coarse joking, or large offensive tattoos are allowed.
